Wilkes Earns Hall of Fame Induction

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former UCLA standout Jamaal Wilkes has been selected to this year's induction class for the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2016 will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, Nov. 18, at the Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland in Kansas City.
Wilkes starred for the Bruins from 1972-74, helping UCLA win back-to-back NCAA titles in 1972 and 1973. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 and had his UCLA jersey number 52 retired in an on-court ceremony in Pauley Pavilion on Jan. 17, 2013.
Joining Wilkes in this year's National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame induction class are DePaul's Mark Aguirre, Kansas State's Bob Boozer, Illinois State's Doug Collins, La Salle's Lionel Simmons and Georgia's Dominique Wilkins. In addition, the 11th enshrinement ceremony will include multi-school coaching legends Hugh Durham and Mike Montgomery.
A three-year letterwinner under head coach John Wooden, Wilkes twice secured All-America honors during his collegiate career. He was a part of the Bruins' historic 88-game winning streak and captured first-team All-Academic honors three times (1972, 1973, 1974). He concluded his career at UCLA having averaged 15.0 points per game and made 51.4 percent of his total shot attempts.
Wilkes went on to win four NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors and was a three-time NBA All-Star. He enjoyed a 12-year NBA career, competing for the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. He led the Lakers to NBA championships in 1980, 1982 and 1985 after having guided the Warriors to the 1975 NBA title.
Wilkes concluded his UCLA career having scored 1,349 points, currently the 32nd highest total in program history.
