
Bruins Through Two Rounds at Western

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Senior Lorens Chan shot a 1-under 69 on Tuesday during the second round of The Western Intercollegiate, while sophomore Tyler Collier posted an even-par 70, as the UCLA men's golf team is through 36 holes at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.
As a team, the Bruins shot a +15 (365) and are in ninth place (+20, 720) after two rounds.
After making bogeys on his first two holes, Chan bounced back with birdies on the seventh and ninth. He opened the back nine with a pair of bogeys, but then gained strokes on #13, #16 and #17 to finish his round under par. He is tied for 14th after two rounds at even-par 140. Collier had a blistering opening nine, making birdies on the first, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth, countering that with three bogeys and a double for his 70. He is tied for 30th at 3-over (143).
Freshman Cole Madey had a 4-over 74 on Tuesday and is T-47 (+6, 146) heading into Wednesday's final round. He birdied the sixth and 14th holes and made four bogeys and a double. Senior Jonathan Garrick and freshman Patrick Murphy both shot 6-over 76 on Tuesday. Garrick, who is tied for 40th overall (+4, 144), made his lone birdie on the 13th to go with five bogeys and a double. Murphy, who is tied for 78th (+15, 155), had a birdie on the 15th with seven bogeys. Freshman Phil Delisi shot a non-team scoring +12 (82) on Tuesday and is T-72 (+13, 153). He had a birdie on the 16th, seven bogeys and three doubles.
