SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Bruins wrapped up play at The Western Intercollegiate on Wednesday, as senior Lorens Chan posted their best finish with a tie for 16th. As a team, UCLA finished in ninth (+39, 1,089) following a +19 (369) in its final round.
Chan was 2-over (212) for the tournament, shooting a 72 (+2) on Wednesday. He was steady with 14 pars, a birdie on his last hole, the ninth, and three bogeys. Senior Jonathan Garrick and sophomore Tyler Collier each tied for 37th (+8, 218). Garrick was 4-over (74) in his final round, making 14 pars, two bogeys and a double, while Collier was +5 (75), with birdies on the fourth and fifth, three bogeys and two doubles.
Freshman Cole Madey tied for 56th (+12, 222), making three birdies on his second nine (#4, #5 and #9) to go with seven bogeys and a double to post a 76 (+6) on Wednesday. Freshman Phil Delisi was T-65 (+15, 225) following a 2-over 72 for his final 18 holes. He made birdies on the 14th, sixth and ninth to go with three bogeys and a double. Freshman Patrick Murphy tied for 89th (+29, 239), making a pair of birdies (#5 and #6), seven bogeys, a double, a triple and a quad for a +14 (84).
The Bruins head to Salt Lake City in a couple weeks for the Pac-12 Conference Championships, which run from Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1.
