
Garrick T-3 After 36 Holes at Pac-12s

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Senior Jonathan Garrick had a near spotless day at The Country Club during the first two rounds of the Pac-12 Championships on Friday, recording eight birdies and only one bogey to put him in a tie for third after 36 holes.
Garrick is 7-under (135) following rounds of 67 (-4) and 68 (-3) on Friday. He was bogey-free on his opening 18 holes, gaining strokes on the seventh, 10th, 14th and 16th. On Garrick's second 18, he birdied the sixth, the 10th again, the 17th and the 18th, with his lone miscue coming on #15. The senior sits three shots back of the overall individual lead.
Freshman Cole Madey rebounded by four strokes in the afternoon, shooting a 1-over 72 in the morning and a 3-under 68 in his final 18 holes. In round one, he made birdies on #8, #10 and #18 to go with four bogeys. In round two, Madey had four birdies on the second, seventh, 10th and 18th, with his lone bogey coming on #11. He is tied for 12th after 36 holes at 2-under (140).
Sophomore Tyler Collier shot rounds of 73 (+2) and 77 (+6) to put him in a tie for 54th at 8-over (150). He eagled his final hole in the morning and added a birdie on the 14th to go with five bogeys. In his second round, Collier gained strokes on the sixth and 18th to go with five bogeys and a triple. Fellow sophomore Brandon Mai is one shot back of Collier at 9-over (151, T-58) after rounds of 71 and 80. His opening round saw him balance his books with three birdies on the second, 13th and 18th and three bogeys. In his final 18 holes of the day, Mai again made three birdies (#8, #15, #17), but also had six bogeys, a double and a quad.
Senior Lorens Chan and freshman Phil Delisi are each tied for 60th at 10-over (152), as Chan went 75-77 in his two rounds, while Delisi flipped that with a 77-75. Chan made four birdies in his opening round (#8, #13, #14 and #18) to go with six bogeys and a double. In his second 18 holes, the senior birdied the third, 11th and 18th, but also made three bogeys and three doubles. Delisi had a pair of birdies in the morning session on the eighth and 14th to go with six bogeys and a double. In the afternoon, he gained strokes on the third, eighth and 16th, adding seven bogeys.
As a team, the Bruins are tied for sixth at 13-over (723) after shooting a 358 in the morning and a 365 in the afternoon.
UCLA opens its third round on the 10th tee at 10 a.m. MT/9 a.m. PT in the order of Delisi, Chan, Mai, Collier, Madey and Garrick. Live scoring will be available here.
