Larrabee Finishes in Third Place at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – The No. 21-ranked UCLA men's golf team concluded the three-day Southwestern Invitational in a tied for eighth place out of 13 competing teams at North Ranch Country Club on Wednesday.
Sophomore Baylor Larrabee registered a career-best third-place finish at the Southwestern Invitational, marking his second top-four finish of the 2025-26 season. Larrabee shot 3-under 207 over the three-day event, with round scores of 68-67-72. He finished in fourth place last October at the Fighting Irish Classic, hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
San Diego State's Harry Takis shot 7-under 203 to win the individual championship at this year's tournament (round scores of 67-66-70).
As a team, UCLA shot 22-over 836 (tied with Utah). Pepperdine won the team title after carding 11-under 829. San Diego State, UNLV and Washington rounded out the top four programs.
Senior Kyle An finished in a tie for 25th place at the Southwestern Invitational, shooting 6-over 216 (round scores of 74-68-74).
Competing as an individual for UCLA, freshman Josh Kim finished with a season-best score of 4-over 214 (finished T-17). UCLA's other three competitors included sophomore Logan Kim (T-49th), freshman Tyler Loree (T-66th) and Alex Papayoanou (69th).
Larrabee's third round included four birdies and six bogeys. He finished the three-day tournament with scores under par on Monday and Tuesday before carding 2-over 72 on Wednesday.
UCLA will return to action at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Hawaii from Feb. 5-7. That tournament will take place at Mauna Lani Golf Course in Kona, Hawaii (located on the Big Island of Hawaii).
Day Two Recap
The No. 21-ranked UCLA men's golf team closed day two of the Southwestern Invitational in 10th place out of 13 programs, shooting 2-under 278 on Tuesday.
Through 36 holes, UCLA has shot 20-over 580, as six teams are currently bunched within nine strokes of each other, between the seventh through 12th places on the team leaderboard.
For the second consecutive day at North Ranch Country Club, sophomore Baylor Larrabee had UCLA's most successful individual performance. He shot 3-under 67 on Tuesday, one day after having carded 2-under 68. Larrabee will enter the third day of competition on Wednesday in a tie for third place, alongside Pepperdine's Byungho Lee. Larrabee and Lee stand two strokes shy of the tournament's individual leader, Harry Takis from San Diego State (7-under 133).
Pepperdine's Brady Siravo has shot 6-under 134 (second place), while Larrabee and Lee have carded scores of 5-under 135 (tied, third place).
Senior Kyle An shot 2-under 68 on Tuesday, after having finished the opening round on Monday at 4-over 74. Through both rounds of the tournament, An has carded 2-over 142.
UCLA's other three team competitors on Tuesday included sophomore Logan Kim (1-over 71 in round two), freshman Tyler Loree (2-over 72 in round two) and junior Alex Papayoanou (3-over 73 in round two).
Bruins' freshman Josh Kim, competing as an individual, finished the second round with a score of 2-over 72. Through both days, Kim has shot 1-over 141, the best individual mark of the 10 student-athletes competing as individuals.
Larrabee concluded the second round with five birdies and two bogeys. He registered birdies on three of his first five holes on Tuesday, opening at hole 10. Through 36 holes, Larrabee has totaled nine birdies and four bogeys.
UCLA will return to action for the third and final round on Wednesday. The Bruins are expected to begin at 8:20 a.m. (PT) at North Ranch Country Club.
Day One Recap
The Bruins shot 22-over 302 on the first day of the Southwestern Invitational on Monday, hosted at North Ranch Country Club in Ventura County.
The Bruins currently sit in 13th place out of 13 teams. All 13 competing teams are currently ranked among the top 100 in the national Scoreboard rankings. UCLA is seven strokes behind 12th place Loyola Marymount (15-over) and eight strokes away from 11th place Colorado State (14-over).
Sophomore Baylor Larrabee had the best individual performance of the six Bruins in action on Monday. Larrabee shot 2-under 68 through 18 holes, tied for fifth place entering Tuesday's second round. He is one of eight golfers who has shot 2-under or better on the opening day. UNLV's Trevor Lewis enters the second round at 5-under 65 as the individual leader.
Senior Kyle An shot 4-over 74, currently in a tie for 42nd place. The Bruins' other three competitors in the team portion included sophomore Logan Kim (10-over 80), freshman Tyler Loree (10-over 80) and junior Alex Papayoanou (13-over 83).
Freshman Josh Kim, competing for UCLA as an individual, shot 1-under 69 on Monday. He is currently in a tie for ninth place on the individual leaderboard.
Larrabee's strong performance on Monday included four birdies and two bogeys. He finished 1-over 35 through the first nine holes and was three-under 33 through the final nine. Larrabee did not bogey on his final 11 holes, registering birdies on holes 10, 15 and 18.
