#13 Bruins Bash the Beavers

LOS ANGELES - The 13th-ranked Bruins won their series with Oregon State on Sunday, finishing off the Beavers with an 8-0, five-inning victory at Easton Stadium.
Junior Gabrielle Maurice went 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs scored and a homer, while junior Delaney Spaulding also left the yard, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Driving in two apiece were senior Allexis Bennett and sophomore Kylee Perez. UCLA had nine hits from seven different players.
In the circle, sophomore Johanna Grauer tossed five shutout innings to improve to 13-8 on the season. She allowed three hits and two walks, posting 1-2-3 frames in the first and the fifth.
UCLA scored the game's first run on one swing of the bat in the bottom of the first, as Spaulding re-took the team lead with her 10th homer of the season to left to put the home team up.
The Bruins added four more runs in the second. With one out, Maurice and freshman Brianna Tautalafua both singled and freshman Zoe Shaw walked to load the bases for Bennett, who singled to right-center to plate Maurice and Tautalafua to make it 3-0. Perez followed two pitches later with a flare single to left to bring home Shaw and Bennett to extend the advantage to 5-0.
In the third, UCLA added three more on one swing. Spaulding and senior Mysha Sataraka had consecutive singles to open the frame, and one out later, Maurice sent one out to right-center for her fourth of the year to up the lead to 8-0.
The Bruins are on the road next weekend for a wraparound series at #16 Arizona. The series starts on Saturday and continues on Sunday, with both of those games starting at 2 p.m. and being broadcast on ESPN2. The series concludes on Monday at 7 p.m. in a game televised on Pac-12 Network.
