2017 Bruins Earn Victory in Alumni Game

LOS ANGELES - Nick Valaika went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Daniel Amaral finished with two hits and scored twice as the UCLA Baseball team earned an 11-1 victory over the UCLA Alumni on Saturday from Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Jon Olsen threw 4.0 innings in relief striking out seven batters and allowing just one hit. Jake Bird started on the mound for the Bruins and tossed 4.0 inning allowing one run on two hits with four punch outs.
The 2017 UCLA squad jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Sean Bouchard drove in Amaral with a single through the left side, followed by Valaika bringing home two runs with a double to right-center field.
The Alumni responded with one run in the second inning as Niko Gallego hit a RBI-single to left field, but UCLA stormed back with two runs in the third inning as Valaika tallied his third RBI of the game on a single up the middle and Gavin Johns ripped a double down the right-field line to plate Jake Pries.
The Bruins added four runs in the sixth inning and capped off the game with two more in the eighth inning as Kyle Cuellar hit a RBI-triple to center field and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jarron Silva.
