ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara and freshman Eddy Lai are both inside the Top 15 after two rounds of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Each of them, as well as junior Cole Madey, shot under par on Saturday, with UCLA shooting 5-under as a team.
The Bruins are at 11-under (565) after 36 holes, shooting a 283 in round two, and are in sixth place.
Yoshihara is tied for seventh at 7-under 137 following a 3-under 69 on Saturday. After four pars to open his round, he alternated birdies and pars on the next four, gaining strokes on #5 and #7 before making back-to-back birdies on #9 and #10. Following six more pars, his lone bogey came on #17, as he finished with yet another par. Yoshihara, who has a pair of Top 10s this season, has been under par in five of his seven rounds this fall.
Lai is tied for 14th (-5, 139) after posting a 2-under 70 in his second round. He had eight pars and a bogey on his front nine before making a birdie on #10. Following seven more pars, Lai eagled the par-5 18th to end his round on a high note.
Madey was six shots better from Friday to Saturday, notching a 3-under 69 to get him back to even par for the tournament (144, T-43). He made three birdies on each side, gaining strokes on #1, #5 and #9, as well as #10, #12 and #18, to go with three bogeys. Senior Tyler Collier is tied for 59th (+3, 147) after a 3-over 75. He made two birdies on #8 and #11, adding five bogeys. Freshman Devon Bling is tied for 70th (+6, 150) following a 5-over 77. His lone birdie came on #5 to go with six bogeys.
The Bruins begin their final round on Sunday off the first tee at 9:55 a.m. ET/6:55 a.m. PT in the order of Bling, Collier, Madey, Lai and Yoshihara. Live scoring will be available here.
