ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The 22nd-ranked Bruins tied for the second-lowest round during the final day of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a 7-under 281 on Sunday to tie for fourth, their third Top 4 finish in as many events this season. The Bruins were 18-under 846 for the three-day tournament.
Junior Cole Madey and freshman Eddy Lai tied for the top spot among Bruin finishers with a tie for 12th. Madey equaled the second-lowest round of the day among all players with a 5-under 67 to finish at -5 (211) for the tournament. He made six birdies in his final round on #1, #6, #9, #13, #17 and #18, with just one bogey on #16. Lai shot an even-par 72 to equal Madey's 54-hole total. He birdied #1 and #9 to go with a pair of bogeys.
Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara tied for 23rd (-4, 212) after a 3-over 75. He made a trio of birdies on #1, #3 and #9, adding two bogeys and two doubles. Freshman Devon Bling recorded the second-best score for UCLA on Sunday with a 3-under 69, which was eight strokes better than his Saturday round, finishing at 3-over 219 for the tournament. He tallied six birdies on #1, #8, #9, #11, #12 and #18, adding three bogeys. Senior Tyler Collier tied for 59th (+4, 220), shooting a 1-over 73, which featured an eagle on his last hole (#18), four birdies (#2, #9, #11 and #15), three bogeys and a quad.
The Bruins return to action in Princeville, Hawai'i at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational at the Princeville Makai Golf Club (Oct. 29-31).
