UCLA Falls at No. 4 Stanford, 5-1

STANFORD, Calif. – Brian Iloski scored a second-half goal as the UCLA men's soccer team fell at No. 4 Stanford, 5-1, on Thursday night from Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Bruins are now 4-4-0 in Pac-12 play and 7-8-1 overall this season.
With the win, Stanford (13-2-1, 7-0-1) clinched its fourth-straight Pac-12 title. The Cardinal outshot UCLA 25-12, including 11-7 in shots on goal, while also holding a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Stanford jumped out to an early lead with two first-half goals. Foster Langsdorf scored in the eighth minute for the match's opening goal for his 11th of the season, followed by Amir Bashti collecting a Langsdorf rebound and finding the back of the net in the 37th minute.
UCLA looked to get on the board with a pair of scoring opportunities in the first period. In the 25th minute, Eirik Baekkelund sent a ball into the box that fell to the foot of Santiago Herrera but his shot to the far-right post was stopped by goalkeeper Nico Corti. The Bruins then earned a penalty kick in the 31st minute but Iloski was unable to convert for the first time in four chances this season as Corti made a diving save.
In the second half, Sam Werner gave Stanford a three-goal lead as he took a shot from beyond the 18-yard line to the upper part of the net in the 52nd minute.
UCLA got on the board in the 63rd minute when the Bruins earned its second penalty kick of the match and Iloski was able to convert after a stutter step to the left post to cut the lead to 3-1. It is Iloski's team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Stanford would go on to score two-late goals by Logan Panchot and Corey Baird in the final minutes of the game.
Kevin Silva and Corti each finished the match with six saves.
The Bruins continue its road trip in the Bay Area on Sunday when they face California at 1 p.m. PT from Edwards Stadium. The match will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
