Ohashi, Ross Earn Pac-12 Weekly Honors

Sophomore Katelyn Ohashi received her first Pac-12 Specialist of the Week honor, and Kyla Ross was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
Ohashi earned a pair of 9.95s on balance beam and a 9.85 and 9.9 on floor exercise as the Bruins competed in two meets in three days over the weekend. Ohashi tied for first on beam at Utah on Saturday with a 9.95 after hitting her extremely difficult backhandspring/backhandspring/layout full series and sticking her backhandspring/layout/full twist dismount. She also added a 9.85 on floor exercise. On Monday during the Bruins' tri-meet, she again hit her beam series and stuck her dismount, scoring 9.95, second only to Ross' perfect 10. On floor exercise, she led off with a career-high-tying 9.9 to tie for first place.
Ross scored two perfect 10s in three days, earning a 10.0 on uneven bars at Utah on Saturday and a 10.0 on balance beam against Utah State and Bridgeport on Monday. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist now has three perfect 10s this season and is the first Bruin to score three perfect 10s in a season since Tasha Schwikert in 2005. Ross won the all-around at Monday's tri-meet, scoring a career-high 39.225 and picking up victories on vault (9.9) and beam (10.0) and a second-place finish on bars. At Utah on Saturday, Ross placed first on bars (10.0) and tied for third on vault (9.875), finishing the weekend with six Top 3 finishes and four individual victories.
