CHICAGO – UCLA goalkeeper Kevin Silva has been named to the U.S. Under-19 Men's National Team 22-player roster for an eight-day domestic training camp set to take place from Feb. 3-10 in Sunrise, Fla., announced head coach Brad Friedel on Friday.
During the camp, the U-19s will play friendlies against El Salvador and Miami FC. This camp marks the U-19 MNT's first gathering of 2017 and first return to action since its friendly against Miami FC last November, part of the team's final training camp of 2016.
Silva, a native of Bethlehem, Pa., started in goal in the final 12 matches last season for the Bruins during his freshman campaign. He compiled a 6-5-1 record, making 60 saves and recorded three shutouts. He ranked 12th in the NCAA and tops in the Pac-12 in saves per game at 5.00.
Silva has twice been called up to the U-19 team, first for the 2016 Copa de Atlantico and also during the 2016 Under-20 Men's COTIF Tournament. He was a consistent starter for the U-17 MNT as his first two international caps with the squad were at the 2013 Nike International Friendlies, where he earned the Golden Glove award as the tournament's top goalkeeper. Silva also led the U-17 MNT in 2014 with four shutouts, including back-to-back 1-0 victories against Croatia on April 8 and 10.
Silva carries the most amount of time spent in the Development Academy, registering six seasons for Players Development Academy from 2010-16.
Silva will be joined on the 22-man roster by defender Brandon Terwege who signed his National Letter of Intent to play for UCLA on Wednesday.
