
UCLA Drops Series Finale at Texas, 10-5

AUSTIN, Texas – Daniel Amaral finished with two hits including a RBI-double as the UCLA baseball team dropped its series finale at Texas, 10-5, on Sunday from UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Texas scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a five-run lead at 9-4 highlighted by a Michael McCann two-run single to right-center field. Sean Bouchard cut the lead to 9-5 with a sacrifice fly to right field in the seventh inning.
The Longhorns scored in the first inning to take an early 2-0 advantage. Austin Todd hit a RBI-single up the middle followed by Bret Boswell driving in a run with a double to left-center field to take an early 2-0 lead.
UCLA responded with two runs in the top of the second inning to tie the game. Daniel Amaral hit a RBI-double down the right-field line to score Chase Strumpf, who led off the inning with a walk, followed by Will McInerny driving home Jack Stronach with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Texas took back the lead in the bottom half of the second inning to make the score 3-2, but UCLA grabbed its only lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning with two runs highlighted by a RBI-single to left-center field off the bat of Brett Stephens.
The Longhorns grabbed the lead once again in the bottom of the fourth inning with a pair of runs as Ryan Reynolds drove in the go-ahead run with a single through the right-side of the infield for the 5-4 advantage.
UCLA starter Jon Olsen (0-1) took the loss throwing 3.1 innings allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts. Blair Henley (2-1) earned the win tossing 5.2 inning allowing four runs, two earned on six hits.
UCLA will return to Jackie Robinson Stadium on Tuesday to host UC Irvine at 6 p.m. (PT) before beginning Pac-12 play on Friday with a three-game home series against College World Series runner-up Arizona.
