#10 Bruins Drop Decision to #20 Utah

LOS ANGELESย - Junior Madeline Jelenickiย had two of the Bruins' four hits on Sunday, but #10 UCLA dropped a 4-0 decision to #20 Utah at Easton Stadium.
Sophomores Zoe Shaw and Brianna Tautalafuaย picked up the other hits for UCLA (21-8, 0-3 Pac-12). Redshirtย freshman Rachel Garcia struck out four in 6 1/3 innings of relief, giving up two runs and six hits. Junior Johanna Grauer allowed two runs, two hits and two walks in 2/3 of an inning.
Utah (21-4, 3-0 Pac-12) scored a pair of runs in its initial at-bat on an illegal pitch with a runner at third and an RBI double by Heather Bowen. In the third, the Utes added two more on an RBI double by Hannah Flippen and an RBI single by Ally Dickman.
The Bruins had baserunners in four of their seven innings, getting a runner to third in the second, runners to third and second in the fourth and a runner to second in the sixth, but were unable to get one across the plate.
UCLA continues its homestand next weekend, hosting BYU in a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, March 25. Live audio and stats will be available at UCLABruins.com.
