The team of Redlicki and Zhu earned its No. 3 seed by way of its strong play thus far in 2017. The duo is 8-2 since its first match together, which also coincided with the beginning of the dual-match season. Ranked No. 24 in the latest ITA/Oracle doubles rankings, Redlicki and Zhu most recently defeated Yale Goldberg and Tom Fawcett of No. 35 Stanford, 6-2, on Feb. 25. The team of Guzman and Gealer, meanwhile, participated in January's National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Rancho Mirage, Calif, where it reached the quarterfinals.
Three Bruins found themselves slotted in the latest ITA/Oracle singles rankings, as well. Gage Brymer holds the top spot among UCLA players at No. 10, while Redlicki sits at No. 45 and Maxime Cressy rounds out the trio at No. 116. In the team rankings, the Bruins' 4-2 win over Stanford helped them rise to No. 11 in the Feb. 28 installment.
When play concludes at the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship, UCLA will return to the dual-match schedule and a showdown with crosstown rival No. 10 USC. The Bruins and Trojans previously faced off this season in the first round of the ITA Team National Indoor Championships, where UCLA clinched a quarterfinal spot with a 4-3 victory on a three-set win by Redlicki on Court 1. The Bruins' next home match will take place Saturday, Mar. 11 (3:30 p.m.), when No. 17 Baylor visits the Sunset Canyon Tennis Courts.
