UCLA to Compete at NCAA Champaign Regional

The fifth-ranked UCLA Gymnastics team will travel to Champaign, Ill. to compete at the NCAA Regionals. The meet will take place at the State Farm Center on the Illinois campus on Saturday, Apr. 1 at 4pm CT/2pm PT. Joining the Bruins in the Regional will be No. 10 Oregon State, No. 17 Iowa, Illinois, Eastern Michigan, and Ohio State.
Qualifying as individual all-arounders are Rachael Underwood and Anna Corbett from Western Michigan, Nicola Deans from Michigan State and Ashley White from Centenary. Deans will rotate with UCLA. Individual event specialists are Bowling Green's Jovannah East (vault and beam) and Lauren Feely (vault); Michigan State's Hailee Westney (bars), Elena Lagoski (floor) and Kira Frederick (floor); and Western Michigan's Jessie Peszek (bars and beam).
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in St. Louis, Mo. April 14-15. In addition, the event winners at each regional will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
The Bruins will begin the regional meet on uneven bars and move to balance beam in rotation two. Following a bye, their competition will resume in rotation four on floor exercise. UCLA wraps up its day on vault in rotation five and ends on a bye. Oregon State begins on vault, Iowa starts on a bye before floor, Illinois begins on a bye before bars, Eastern Michigan is on beam, and Ohio State begins on floor.
UCLA has won a total of 21 NCAA Regional titles. The Bruins enter this year's regional with a RQS of 197.500 and a season average of 197.150.
The six regional fields and sites are as follows:
Champaign Regional (at Illinois), 4 pm CT: No. 5 UCLA, No. 8 Oregon State, No. 17 Iowa, Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Ohio State
Fayetteville Regional (at Arkansas), 4 pm CT: No. 4 Utah, No. 9 Denver, No. 16 California, Auburn, Arkansas, Central Michigan.
Gainesville Regional (at Florida), 4 pm ET: No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, New Hampshire, Penn State, North Carolina.
Lincoln Regional (at Nebraska), 4 pm CT: No. 2 LSU, No. 11 Boise State, No. 14 Nebraska, Arizona, Iowa State, Minnesota.
Morgantown Regional (at West Virginia), 4 pm ET: No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Michigan, No. 18 Southern Utah, George Washington, West Virginia, Kent State.
Seattle Regional (at Washington), 4 pm PT: No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 12 Kentucky, No. 13 Washington, Utah State, Stanford, BYU.
