Alford will compete in the 3-point contest this Thursday evening against Torian Graham (Arizona State), Kris Jenkins (Villanova), Peter Jok (Iowa), Matt Jones (Duke), Nazareth Mitrou-Long (Iowa State), DeWayne Russell (Grand Canyon) and Derrick Walton Jr. (Michigan).
One of three seniors on UCLA's roster this season, Alford established UCLA's single-season three-point record (116), eclipsing the school record that he set as a sophomore in 2014-15 (93 three-pointers). Alford ranked second on the team in points per game (15.5), shooting 44.7% from the field and 43.0% from three-point territory for UCLA in 2016-17.
Alford will become UCLA's first player to compete in the NCAA College All-Star Game since Larry Drew II represented the Bruins in the same contest in 2013.
Joining Alford on this season's West All-Star Team include Nathan Adrian (West Virginia), Sterling Brown (SMU), Deonte Burton (Iowa State), Josh Hawkinson (Washington State), Paris Lee (Illinois State), Ben Moore (SMU), Luke Nelson (UC Irvine), DeWayne Russell (Grand Canyon), Rashawn Thomas (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) and Derek Willis (Kentucky).
