Ohashi Named UCLA Student-Athlete of Week

Sophomore Katelyn Ohashi of the UCLA gymnastics team has been voted the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 27-Mar. 5.
Ohashi scored her first career perfect 10 on the balance beam to lead No. 4 UCLA to a 197.525-196.800 victory over No. 19 California on Sunday. Her score gave the Bruins a season-high beam total of 49.55, and it marked the sixth time a Bruin has scored a 10 this season. Ohashi also won the floor exercise with a career-best 9.925. In her last five meets, Ohashi is averaging 9.955 on beam and 9.885 on floor. She currently ranks fifth in the nation on beam.
This is Ohashi's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
The UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week is chosen by fans on Twitter via @UCLAAthletics. This week, Ohashi beat out men's basketball's Lonzo Ball, who averaged 15.5 points, 11.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in UCLA's sweep of the Washington schools; baseball's Griffin Canning, who tied his career-high with 12 strikeouts on Friday; and women's water polo's Maddie Musselman, who had four goals, one assist and three steals in a 24-2 win over San Jose State.
