STANFORD, Calif. – Daniel Amaral collected two hits, one RBI and scored a run, while Sean Bouchard hit a RBI-double as the UCLA baseball team fell at No. 18 Stanford, 5-3, on Friday night from Sunken Diamond.

Stanford scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning but UCLA responded with two runs in the top of the third. Amaral began the scoring by bringing home Ryan Kreidler with a groundball to second base followed by Sean Bouchard ripping a double off the left-center field wall to plate Amaral all the way from first base.

The Cardinal regained the lead in the bottom of the third as Mikey Diekroeger drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Andrew Daschbach hit a RBI-single to center field for the 3-2 lead.

The Bruins tied the game as Kyle Cuellar scampered home on a wild pitch in the sixth inning, but Stanford picked up two runs in the bottom half of the inning for the 5-3 advantage.

Moises Ceja (1-3) suffered the loss allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits in 5.0 innings of work. Colton Hock (5-0) earned the winning tossing the final 3.1 innings without allowing a run and surrendered just one hit. Stanford starter Andrew Summerville threw 5.2 innings allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.

UCLA ended the game with three runs on nine hits and three errors, while the Cardinal finished with five runs on five hits and no errors.

UCLA and Stanford will play the rubber match of this three-game Pac-12 series on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. (PT) from Sunken Diamond. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.
