LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Brianna Tautalafua set a new career high with four hits, including two home runs, which tied a personal best, as the 13th-ranked Bruins defeated Cal State Fullerton 7-3 on Tuesday at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins (30-12) had 13 hits from eight different players. Senior Delaney Spaulding and junior Madeline Jelenicki each recorded two-hit contests. In the circle, junior Selina Ta'amiloย improved to 8-0, striking out four in 3 2/3 innings and giving up two runs and six hits. Redshirt senior Paige McDuffee started and struck out two in 2 2/3 scoreless frames, allowing three hits and two walks. Junior Johanna Grauer got the last two outs, both by strikeout, giving up an unearned run, two hits and one walk.

UCLA scored in its first at-bat, as Spaulding led off with a single to left, Tautalafua recorded a one-out single up the middle and redshirt freshman Rachel Garcia plated Spaulding with a single up the middle.

In the third, Tautalafua launched a one-out homer to left-center to re-take the team lead with her 11th bomb to make it 2-0. Jelenicki followed with a single to right, moved to second on a Garcia grounder and scored on a single up the middle off the bat of sophomore Paige Halstead to extend the lead to 3-0.

Cal State Fullerton (23-19) got on the board in the fourth on an RBI double by Delynn Rippy to cut its deficit to 3-1, but UCLA responded with four in its half of the inning. Senior Gabrielle Maurice reached on an infield single to start the inning and moved to third on a single up the middle by sophomore Zoe Shaw, who advanced to second on the throw. One out later, junior Kylee Perez laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to plate Maurice to make it 4-1. Tautalafua followed with her second homer of the game and 12th of the year off the scoreboard in left to up the edge to 7-1.

The Titans added two runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Zoe Richard and Arianna Burns to cut it to 7-3, but they came up four runs short.

The Bruins continue their homestand on Friday with the opener of a Pac-12 series against #22 California on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will air live on Pac-12 Los Angeles and also have free audio at UCLABruins.com.
