UCLA Rowing Concludes Day One at Clemson

The UCLA women's rowing team raced against multiple top-20 ranked crews on the first day of the Clemson Invitational on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C., on Saturday, April 22.

The Bruins' second varsity eight recorded the program's best finish of the day, crossing the finish line third in a field of seven competitors. UCLA's varsity eight finished fourth in its morning race.

Both the varsity eight crews raced to fifth place finishes in the afternoon/evening races.

UCLA's varsity four raced to a fifth-place finish in the morning session and to a fourth-place finish in the early evening. The Bruins' second varsity four crossed the finish line in fifth place in each of its two races on Saturday.

In the morning races, UCLA posted a fourth-place V8+ time of 6:29.722, crossing the finish line behind No. 11 Wisconsin (6:20.390), No. 10 Virginia (6:22.972) and Central Florida (6:26.724). The Bruins posted a better time than No. 18 Louisville (6:34.604), Navy (6:35.604) and Minnesota (6:43.653).

UCLA's third-place 2V8+ crew finished its morning race in 6:43.936, behind No. 11 Wisconsin (6:29.159) and No. 10 Virginia (6:34.855). The Bruins finished ahead of Central Florida (6:45.154), Minnesota (6:45.508), Navy (6:45.674) and No. 18 Louisville (6:52.034).

The Bruins' races on Sunday will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. (ET). Sunday's race times have been moved up earlier in the morning due to the potential for inclement weather in the late morning.ย
