Korver and Kornet Complete China Tour

JIAHE, China -- UCLA senior guards Kari Korver and Nicole Kornet recently completed a trip to China (April 24-May 9) to participate in the Four Nations International Basketball Tournament on a team organized and coached by NetScouts Basketball. The USA select team went 7-2 and got revenge for two prior losses by beating China (7-2), 84-68, before a record crowd of 3,122 at the Jiahe Municipal Auditorium in the final game of its China tour on May 8. The win gave the USA All-Stars the championship of the tournament in Jiahe and a tie with China for the overall Four Nations Tournament.
The Bruin duo left Los Angeles on April 24 to play in three cities for a total of nine games against the national teams of China and Lithuania as well as an All-Star team from Canada. The team played three games in round-robin matches in Weng'an from April 28-30, Tongren from May 2-4 and in Jiahe from May 6-8. USA was 3-0 against Lithuania and Canada and 1-2 vs. China.
Kornet averaged 10.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game over the nine games. She scored in double figures in five games, including a monster game of 19 points and 11 rebounds in the first loss to China on April 30.
Korver averaged 5.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game in nine games of action. She scored in double figures twice, including a tournament-best 15 points in a win over Canada on May 7.

The team will be coached by Perry Huang, previously with Santa Cruz of the NBA D-League and assisted by Carl Berman of NetScouts Basketball and D'shara Strange of Montana Tech.
