Kocian Recovering from Successful Shoulder Surgery

September 11, 2017 | Gymnastics

UCLA gymnast and Olympic gold and silver medalist Madison Kocian underwent successful surgery in Augustย to repair a torn labrum.

Kocian came to UCLA with the shoulder injury that occurred at the Olympic Trials and managed it for the full collegiate season, competing in the all-around in 12 of the Bruins' 14 meets and winning six times. She earned a total of four All-America honors and was the NCAA Regional uneven bars and floor exercise champion. Kocian scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars on Feb. 11 against Stanford.

Following doctors' protocol, there is no estimated time of return at this point, but she is expected to make a full recovery.
