No. 15 UCLA Falls at Georgetown, 1-0
September 04, 2017 | Men's Soccer
The No. 15 UCLA men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Georgetown on Monday afternoon at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C.
Georgetown (4-0) scored the game's only goal on a shot in the 12th minute from Achara, who tallied his team-leading fifth goal of the season for the Hoyas.
"Today was a difficult way to end our road trip," said UCLA head coach Jorge Salcedo. "Giving away a tough goal against a good team is never a formula for success. There was no danger for us prior to their goal. At the start of the second half we changed some things tactically, and it helped us take up more advanced position, but unfortunately we could not convert on the good chances we created."
UCLA goalkeeper Kevin Silva tallied seven saves, including four stops in the first half.
Georgetown had entered Monday's game having only surrendered one goal in its previous three matches. The Hoyas outshot UCLA (1-2) by a 15-9 margin.
"The season is young, and we have seen some very good things from our relatively new group," Salcedo said. "While we lost both games this weekend, we know that in both we did enough where we could have won both."
The Bruins will return to action at home versus UNLV at Drake Stadium on Monday, Sept. 11. Game time against the Rebels is 7 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game against UNLV will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.
