PHILADELPHIA – UCLA forward Brian Iloski was drafted by the Colorado Rapids with the 72nd overall pick in the fourth round on Sunday at the 2018 MLS SuperDraft via a conference call from the Philadelphia Convention Center.
UCLA has the most draft selections in the history of the MLS with 75, leading the next school, North Carolina, by over 20 selections. Since 2004, UCLA has had 41 players selected in either the MLS SuperDraft or the Supplemental Draft.
The Bruins have produced 66 MLS players since the league's inception, including 24 since 2013, the most by any collegiate program.
"First and foremost congratulations to Brian", said UCLA head coach Jorge Salcedo. "He has dedicated the majority of his life to the game and it is a credit to him and his family for being drafted. I have the utmost confidence that Brian can be a great professional soccer player because of his strong desire to compete and his intelligence on the field. We wish him the best in Colorado."
Iloski, a native of Escondido, Calif., was named an All-Pac-12 selection this season after leading the Bruins in points with 15 as he held the team-high in both goals with six and assists with three. The redshirt senior ranked inside the top-10 in the Pac-12 in goals, goals per game, points, points per game, shots and shots per game. He also ended the year ranked 49th in the country in game-winning goals with three.
The redshirt senior recorded his first career brace with the Bruins in 2017 in the season opener at San Francisco and converted four penalty kicks on the season. He ended his UCLA career as a two-time all-league selection, earning second team honors in 2016. Iloski registered 40 points with 14 goals, including five game-winners during his time in Westwood and also earned back-to-back honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic accolades.
