PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Trailing by one shot, Bruin alum Ken Tanigawa made a 35-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th at Pebble Beach Golf Links to win the PURE Insurance Championship on Sunday. It was the first PGA TOUR Champions title for Tanigawa in just his 18th start.

Tanigawa, who turned 50 last Dec. 26, shot an even-par 72 in his final round to win by one stroke over Kirk Triplett and Marco Dawson. He finished at 10-under 205, making nine straight pars before his final eagle. Tanigawa went through Q-school as a re-instate amateur and turned professional again at the start of the 2018 season.

With the victory, Tanigawa moved up to 20th in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup money list, which is led by fellow Bruin alum, Scott McCarron.

The next tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions is the SAS Championship (Oct. 12-14) in Cary, N.C.
