ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Bruins recorded a total of 4-under 284 on Saturday in round two of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shaving nine shots off their first-round total at the Golf Club of Georgia. Senior Cole Madey shot the low round of the day for the Bruins.
Through 36 holes, UCLA is in 10th place at 1-over 577.
Madey posted a 5-under 67 to move into a tie for 21st (-1, 143), cutting nine shots off his Friday score. He made four birdies on his first nine, which started on the 10th, gaining strokes on No. 11, 13, 14 and 16. Madey added another birdie on the first and one on the ninth, with just one bogey on the second hole.
Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 28th (E, 144), shooting a 2-over 74 in round two. He made three birdies on No. 18, 6 and 8 and five bogeys. Sophomore Devon Bling and freshman Sean Maruyama are each tied for 47th (+3, 147). Bling shot an even-par 72, balancing his books with three birdies on No. 16, 5 and 9 and three bogeys. Maruyama tallied a 3-over 75 on two birdies (No. 15 and 1) and five bogeys. Senior Jack Ireland is tied for 57th (+5, 149), going under par with a 1-under 71 on Saturday, seven shots better than his first round. He made four birdies on No. 18, 4, 7 and 9 and three bogeys.
The Bruins' third and final round starts at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT off the 10th tee on Sunday in the order of Ireland, Maruyama, Bling, Yoshihara and Madey.
