The Bruins capped last season with their first Elite Eight showing since 1999, including a trip to their third-straight Sweet 16. WNBA draft picks Jordin Canada and Monique Billings led the way offensively, averaging 17 and 15.3 points per game, respectively.

UCLA posted an overall record of 27-8, including a 14-4 mark in Pac-12 play. The Bruins earned a No. 9 ranking in the final Associated Press (AP) top 25 poll, as well as a No. 7 ranking in the USA Today poll.

At a Glance: Westmont College
Westmont College, an NAIA institution, finished as the NAIA National Runner-Up last season, registering a 26-7 overall record en route to reaching its second title game in program history. The Warriors were also the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) regular season champion and GSAC tournament champion.

Led by 2019 NAIA Coach of Character recipient Kirsten Moore, Westmont has reached the NAIA national tournament in 11 of the last 12 years. The Warriors are set to return two backcourt starters in junior Maud Ranger (8.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg) and sophomore Lauren Tsuneishi (7.3 ppg, 55 three's made).

Hometown Heroes Return
The Bruins return two senior starters in Kennedy Burke (Northridge, Calif.) and Lajahna Drummer (Inglewood, Calif.). Burke is the team's top returning scorer with 10.6 points per game in 2017-18 to go along with 4.3 boards and 2.2 dimes per outing. She ranked sixth in the Pac-12 in steals (1.7 spg) on the way to being named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12. Drummer, the team's top returning rebounder from a year ago, averaged 6.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

JP's Elite Performance
Senior point guard Japreece Dean (JP) scored in double figures in seven of the 26 games she saw action in during the 2017-18 season, including a 16-point performance against top-seeded Mississippi State in the Elite Eight. She buried four triples in that affair and will be key for the Bruin's outside scoring attack this season.

Onyen-Wow
Michaela Onyenwere had quite the freshman campaign in 2017-18, averaging 6.9 points and 4.7 rebounds on the way to earning Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors. She shot 47.2 percent (101-for-214) from the field and posted double-figure scoring in nine games, including a career-high 20 at Utah on Jan. 12.

Burke Named to Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced on Oct. 23 that Burke was one of 20 student-athletes placed on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list, an honor given to the top shooting guard in the country. The versatile senior has compiled a career record of 78-26 (.731), starting 63-of-104 games and reaching the Sweet Sixteen in each of her three seasons, including an Elite Eight appearance last year.

Home, Sweet Home
Boasting a dominant home record of 46-3 (.939) over the last three seasons, UCLA will have plenty of opportunities to continue that dominance, as the Bruins host seven non-conference regular season games at Pauley Pavilion, followed by nine home games during Pac-12 play. After opening the season on the road at Loyola Marymount (Nov. 6), the Bruins will have a three-game home stretch before its trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands: Nov. 11 vs. Rice, Nov. 14 vs. No. 14 Georgia and Nov. 18 vs. Seton Hall.

Up Next
The Bruins will open the 2018-19 campaign at Loyola Marymount on Nov. 6. Tip-off at Gersten Pavilion is slated for 7:30 p.m. (PT).
