Senior guard Japreece Dean led four Bruins in double figures with 22 points, and the (RV/No. 23) UCLA women's basketball team surged to a 75-55 win over Westmont College in an exhibition affair on Saturday afternoon.

UCLA led by as many as 23 points and used a 14-5 run to open the second quarter to pull away. In addition to her 22 points, Dean had six assists, five of which came in the first half.

Redshirt freshman Lindsey Corsaro just missed a triple-double, posting 12 points, 10 boards and seven assists. She played 31 minutes and did not commit a single turnover. Senior Kennedy Burke scored 16 points and had three blocks, while sophomore Lauryn Miller added 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting.

The Storyline
UCLA got off to a hot start early, connecting on seven of its first 11 shots to take a 16-7 advantage. The Bruins issued a balanced attack offensively, getting four points apiece from Dean, Burke, Miller and freshman Ahlana Smith. The Warriors closed in on the Bruins to cap the stanza, putting together a 10-3 run to climb within two (19-17) before Corsaro scored on a drive to the bucket to make it 21-17 UCLA after one.

The Bruins continued to share the wealth on the offensive end in the second quarter, erupting for 12 of the first 17 points to go up 33-22 after Dean found Miller on the break for an easy two. UCLA held Westmont to just 3-for-17 shooting in the second quarter while connecting on 53.3 percent (16-for-30) from the field en route to taking a commanding 40-26 lead into the locker room.

In the third, UCLA kept a comfortable distance from Westmont, stretching its lead to 17 (50-33) midway through the quarter. After taking a 14-point (56-42) edge into the final stanza, Westmont clawed its way back in thanks to back-to-back triples to trim the Bruin advantage to eight (56-48). Dean swooshed a baseline jumper to spark an 11-1 run to stretch the gap to 18 (67-49), and, following another Warrior trey, drilled the answer on the right wing to keep Westmont at bay.

As a team, the Bruins shot 49.2 percent (29-for-59) and had 17 assists on the day.

Both Lauren Tsuneishi and Kaitlin Larson led Westmont with 10 points apiece.
