December 19, 2018 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – UCLA freshman midfielder Frankie Amaya earned College Soccer News All-Freshman Second Team honors, it was announced by the outlet on Wednesday afternoon.
The nod from College Soccer News was the second national honor for Amaya this week, as he was earlier named to the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI Second Team. He was also named First Team All-Pac-12 and earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Far West All-Region Team. He was the first Bruin freshman to earn First Team All-League status since Jose Hernandez in 2015.
The Santa Ana, Calif. native was recalled by the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team twice during the course of the season. In November, he helped the U.S. to a second straight CONCACAF U-20 title, ensuring a spot in next year's U-20 World Cup.
With UCLA, Amaya recorded two goals and two assists for six points over 14 games played (10 starts). He netted his first NCAA goal on Sept. 22 at UC Santa Barbara, then chipped in another goal as part of a 2-1 Bruin win over San Diego State on Oct. 13.
