UCLA Set for Friday Matchup with Fresno State

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's hoops team will look to stay unbeaten versus Fresno State when the Bruins host the Bulldogs on Friday at 7 p.m. (PT) at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

Last Time Out
The Bruins fell to undefeated Indiana in a two-point (67-65) heartbreaker on Dec. 2. UCLA led 27-17 but was outscored 20-3 to end the first half and entered the locker room facing a 37-30 deficit.
UCLA fought back and eventually took a two-point (62-60) edge with 2:31 remaining, but Indiana had the answer and later drained a corner trey to go up 65-64 with 29 seconds remaining. The Bruins had chances down the stretch but couldn't get it done.
Senior Japreece Dean scored a team-high 16 points, while senior Kennedy Burke registered 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds en route to becoming the fourth Bruin in women's basketball history with 1,000+ points, 500+ rebounds and 100+ blocks.

Fresno State most recently defeated Eastern Washington by a final score of 68-58 on Dec. 2 in Cheney, Wash. Candice White, who has led the team this season in scoring with 17.5 points per game, posted 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds. Fresno State led 59-54 with five minutes left before the Bulldogs mustered a 7-0 run to break away.
Prior to the victory over Eastern Washington, the Bulldogs took USC down to the wire, leading for 27 minutes before the Trojans notched the go-ahead bucket with just 5.2 seconds remaining.
White is one of three players averaging double-figure scoring, as Maddi Utti and Kristina Cavey put up 12.2 and 10.7 points per game, respectively.

Nikki Blue and Noelle Quinn led the way offensively, scoring 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lead then-ranked No. 18 UCLA to victory. After leading by just one at the half, the Bruins put the game away early in the second, opening with a 16-3 run to go up 55-41. UCLA shot 58.1 percent in the second half.
The last matchup at home for UCLA against Fresno State came in 2003, when the Bruins ousted the Bulldogs, 69-56, on Dec. 21. Once again, the Bruins used a big run to open the second half, turning a four-point (35-31) halftime lead into a 15-point (48-33) advantage.
