#21 Bruins in Contention at The Farms Invite

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The final day of the The Farms Invitational at The Farms Golf Club promises to be an exciting one, as #21 UCLA is currently in second place after darkness fell before round two could be completed.
The Bruins were four shots back of Santa Clara and tied for second after their first 18 holes on Monday, posting a 1-over 289. Players who didn't finish their second rounds have anywhere from one to four holes remaining, as play will resume at 8:15 a.m., with groups staying the same for the final round.
After 18 holes, it was a pair of UCLA individuals leading the way for the blue and gold. Freshman Eddy Lai was tied for seventh after round one, posting a 2-under 70. He made birdies on #18 and #1, his first two holes, along with three in a row on #9, #10 and #11, adding three bogeys. Junior Jack Ireland was tied for 11th after an opening-round 71 (-1). He birdied his first hole, #15, as well as #9 and #14 to go with two bogeys.
As for the UCLA scoring fivesome, freshman Devon Bling was tied for 11th, also shooting a 1-under 71 in round one. The highlight of the day for the Bruins came on the 18th when Bling made a double eagle two on the par-5, 512-yard hole. He added birdies on #8 and #10 and four bogeys.
Senior Tyler Collier and sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara both posted even-par 72s and were tied for 17th after round one. Collier made three birdies on #8, #1 and #2 to go with three bogeys. Yoshihara also had three birdies (#6, #9 and #12) and three bogeys.
Juniors Cole Madey and Patrick Murphy were tied for 28th after opening-round 74s (+2). Madey made four birdies on #3, #7, #18 and #2 to go with six bogeys. Murphy recorded three birdies (#1, #9 and #18), adding five bogeys. Sophomore Harrison Mahon, playing as an individual, tallied a 4-over 76 (T-39) in round one, posting two birdies on #12 and #14, four bogeys and a double. Junior Phil Delisi was tied for 61st after round one, posting a 7-over 79 on a bogey and three doubles.
With partial second-round scores, Yoshihara is tied for sixth at even par through 14 holes, while Bling is tied for 10th (+1). UCLA (+8) is one shot back of San Francisco (+7).
