PALM DESERT, Calif. - The 21st-ranked Bruins maintained their spot in fourth place after their second round at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, posting a 2-over 290 on Saturday at The Classic Club. UCLA is tied with Kansas at 3-over 579 through 36 holes.
Junior Cole Madey kept his spot as the low Bruin, recording a 2-under 70 to put him in a tie for ninth (-5, 139). He made three birdies on #4, #14 and #17 with just one bogey.
Senior Tyler Collier was also under par on Saturday with a 1-under 71. He is tied for 24th (-1, 143). Collier notched birdies on #14 and #18 to go with one bogey.
Junior Patrick Murphy, playing as an individual, is tied for 40th at 2-over 146. He posted a 4-over 76 in his second round, making three birdies on #4, #11 and #18, five bogeys and a double. Fellow individual and junior Jack Ireland is tied for 45th (+3, 147). He tallied a 2-over 74 with birdies on #3, #8 and #14, three bogeys and a double. Freshman Devon Bling is tied for 57th (+4, 148), recording a 2-over 74 on four birdies (#3, #10, #13, #14), two bogeys and two doubles. Freshman Eddy Lai is tied for 68th (+5, 149), scoring a 3-over 75 on a pair of birdies on #8 and #16, three bogeys and a double. Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara (T-114, +12, 156) shot an 82 (+10) on Saturday, making a bogey, a double, a triple and a quad.
The Bruins begin their final round on Sunday at 7:50 a.m. off tee #1 in the order of Yoshihara, Lai, Bling, Collier and Madey. Ireland and Murphy will also begin at 7:50 a.m. off tee #10. Live scoring will be available here.
