CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The third-ranked Bruins ran their record to 15-0 on Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic II, defeating Missouri 4-0 and Fresno State 7-3 at Big League Dreams Sports Park.

Versus Missouri (10-7), freshman Holly Azevedo and redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia combined on a five-hit shutout. Azevedo started and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and two walks. She struck out two each in the first and second. Garcia earned the win to move to 6-0, fanning three in 3 2/3 innings and allowing just one hit. She retired 11 of the 12 batters she faced, setting down the first six and the final five.

At the plate, the Bruins had eight hits from four different players, as Garcia went 3-for-3 and senior Kylee Perez and freshman Kinsley Washington added two hits apiece. The victory against Missouri also marked the 500th win of head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez's career.

After 2 1/2 scoreless innings, the Bruins scored twice in the third. With two outs, Washington singled to left, advanced to second after freshman Briana Perez reached on an error and scored when Kylee Perez singled to left. Bri Perez would also go on to score on the same play when the throw got away from the Missouri catcher.

In the fourth, junior Brianna Tautalafua singled to right to open the inning and was pinch-run for by junior Imani Johnson, who moved to third following a single by Garcia and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by sophomore Bubba Nickles to make it 3-0.

UCLA added another run in the sixth, as Tautalafua drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to center by Garcia.

Against Fresno State (7-7), the Bruins tallied 10 hits from six different players. Briana Perez and junior Taylor Pack each had two hits and three RBI, while Garcia and junior Zoe Shaw both recorded two hits.

In the circle, senior Selina Ta'amilo picked up the win in relief to improve to 2-0, striking out two in four innings and giving up just one hit, retiring 12 of the 13 batters she faced. Ta'amilo set down the first six hitters she faced, as well as the last six. Senior Johanna Grauer started and struck out a pair in three frames, allowing three runs, four hits and one walk, posting a 1-2-3 inning in the second.

The Bruins scored three times in the bottom of the second. With one out, Garcia drew a walk and Nickles doubled her to third. Pack followed with a single to left to bring in Garcia to make it 1-0, but Nickles would be retired at the plate for the second out. Shaw then singled to center, Washington walked to load the bases and Briana Perez doubled down the right-field line to plate Pack and Shaw to up the lead to 3-0.

The Bulldogs brought home a run in the third, but it could have been worse. Miranda Rohleder recorded a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Later in the inning, it appeared that Fresno State would have runners at the corners with two outs, but Shaw threw out Katie Castellon going from first to third on a single to end the inning.

UCLA got that run back and another in its half of the third. With Tautalafua on first after reaching on a fielder's choice, Garcia singled to put two on base. One out later, Pack doubled to left to bring in both runners to make it 5-1.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the fourth on back-to-back homers by Hayleigh Galvan and Vanessa Hernandez to cut their deficit to 5-3. UCLA got its lead back up to four with single runs in the fifth and sixth. Garcia singled to open the fifth and was pinch-run for by junior Jenna Crawford, who one out later moved to second on a grounder and scored on a Shaw single to right-center to make it 6-3. In the sixth, Briana Perez led off with a homer to right, her third of the season, to up the advantage to 7-3.

The Bruins head south for their next tournament, the San Diego Classic I, which will be played on the campuses of San Diego and San Diego State. UCLA's first matchup will be on Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. against UCF at USD.
