
UCLA Rowing Finishes Day Two in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – The UCLA women's rowing team concluded the two-day San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay with five races on Sunday morning.
Four of the Bruins' boats that raced on Saturday all advanced to Grand Finals on Sunday morning.
UCLA's varsity eight and second varsity eight crews finished sixth on Sunday, while the Bruins' varsity four crew finished fifth. UCLA's second varsity four posted a second-place finish, and the novice eight raced to a fourth-place finish.
Each of the Bruins' four boats advanced to Grand Final races on Sunday.
The Bruins' second varsity eight and varsity four crews both raced to second-place finishes, while UCLA's varsity eight and novice eight boats finished third.
California finished first in each of the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. UCLA's varsity eight crew rowed against a competitive field that included California, Texas, USC, the University of Victoria and Washington State. UCLA posted a time of 7:03.272.
UCLA's second varsity eight competed against a six-boat field in the Grand Final race, rowing against California, Texas, USC, Washington State and Oklahoma.
The Bruins' varsity four finished its race in 8:04.774, crossing the finish line just under four seconds ahead of USC (8:08.725). California finished first, followed by Texas, Oklahoma and Washington State in the V4+ Grand Final race.
UCLA's second varsity four crew finished second, crossing the finish line behind Oklahoma (7:47.291). UCLA posted a time of 7:56.015 and finished ahead of San Diego State, USC, Gonzaga and Kansas State.
The Bruins' novice eight boat finished fourth in its Grand Final race, posting a time of 7:41.894. Texas won the race with a time of 7:20.007, while Loyola Marymount finished second and Sacramento State earned a third-place finish. UCLA finished the race ahead of British Columbia and UC Santa Barbara.
UCLA will return to action at the two-day Clemson Invitational the weekend of April 14-15 at Lake Hartwell (South Carolina).
Following the Clemson Invitational, the Bruins will take on USC in San Pedro, Calif., on Saturday, April 28, before competing at the Pac-12 Championships (Gold River, Calif.) on Sunday, May 13.
