LOS ANGELES -- No. 2 UCLA won its 14th consecutive dual with a 4-1 victory over No. 1 Pepperdine (15-3) on Tuesday afternoon at Sunset Canyon Beach Volleyball Courts. It marked the second win over Pepperdine this season and also was the second time this year the Bruins defeated the nation's top-ranked team (beat then-No. 1 USC on Feb. 28).

The Bruins, who improved to 19-3 on the season, will head to Miami, Fla., to face five nationally-ranked teams in the Surf & Turf Invitational on Friday-Saturday, March 30-31. The Bruins open with No. 7 Florida State on Friday at 6:50 a.m. PT.

UCLA opened the day by winning an exhibition match on court six as freshmen Cami Sanchez and Jamie McQuarrie defeated Pepperdine's Katie Gavin and Jordan Ferrari, 21-8, 21-10.

Moments later on court five, junior Izzy Carey and freshman Megan Muret beat the Waves' Maddie Dilfer and Nikki Lyons in straight sets, 21-8, 21-13, to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

Junior Zana Muno and sophomore Savvy Simo put the Bruins up 2-0 with a 21-17, 13-21, 15-11 victory over Pepperdine's Heidi Dyer and Gigi Hernandez on court three.

Senior Elise Zappia and freshman Mac May clinched the dual for UCLA on court four with a three-set win over the Waves' Alexis Filippone and Skylar Caputo, 16-21, 21-14, 16-14.

Juniors Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara put the Bruins up 4-0 with a straight-set win over Pepperdine's Brook Bauer and Madalyn Roh, 21-19, 21-11.

The Waves managed to avoid the shutout with a three-set win on court two as Deahna Kraft and Corinne Quiggle defeated the Bruins' sophomore Lily Justine and junior Sarah Sponcil, 21-17, 17-21, 17-15.
