Thomas Welsh Competes in Reese's All-Star Game

SAN ANTONIO – Senior Thomas Welsh scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Reese's College All-Star Game for the East All-Star Team at the Alamodome on Friday afternoon.
The East All-Stars dropped a 98-94 decision to the West All-Stars.
Welsh was one of 20 college seniors selected to compete in Friday's annual all-star showcase. The Bruins' senior center from Redondo Beach, Calif., finished the game having made 4 of 12 shots from the field.
Welsh was one of three players from the Pac-12 competing in the game, along with Colorado's George King and USC's Jordan McLaughlin. The Reese's College All-Star Game comes one day prior to the NCAA Men's Final Four at the Alamodome.
Welsh concluded his senior season at UCLA having averaged 9.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in 132 career contests (making 94 starts). He finished his collegiate career ranking No. 3 on UCLA's career rebounds list (1,035), behind Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then known as Lew Alcindor).
In addition, Welsh ranks No. 3 on UCLA's all-time blocked shots list (143) and is No. 5 in blocked shots per game (1.09).
During his senior season, he was named a second-team selection on the NABC Division I All-District team and secured USBWA All-District IX acclaim. In addition, he has been named as one of five national finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.
Other recent UCLA student-athletes who have capped their senior years by playing in the Reese's College All-Star Game have included guards Bryce Alford (2017) and Larry Drew II (2013).
