
No. 11 UCLA Defeats Loyola Marymount, 12-1

LOS ANGELES โ Ryan Garcia struck out nine batters and allowed just one run, while Jake Hirabayashi and Jeremy Ydens each tallied three hits as the No. 11 UCLA baseball team defeated Loyola Marymount, 12-1, at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Tuesday.
Garcia (2-0) surrendered just two hits and one walk over 6.0 innings of work and set his career-high with nine punch outs. The UCLA bullpen of Nathan Hadley, Kyle Mora, Garrett Barker and Holden Powell combined to throw three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Offensively, Ydens recorded two RBIs with one run scored and Hirabayashi scored three runs with two doubles. Jack Stronach drove in three runs, while Ryan Kreidler and Daniel Amaral tallied a pair of RBIs.
UCLA jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as Jake Pries and Ryan Kreidler both hit RBI-doubles followed by Will McInerny scoring Stronach with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Loyola Marymount picked up a run in the third inning but the Bruins responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to make the score 6-1. Chase Strumpf began the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Ydens and then three batters later Stronach ripped a two-run double off the base of the wall in right field that scored Hirabayashi and Jake Pries just in front of the tag.
The Bruins tacked on two more runs in the seventh inning when Ydens hit a single up the middle to bring in Amaral and Daniel Rosica and then four more in the eighth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Amaral to right field.
UCLA (10-2) ended the game with 12 runs on 12 hits and no errors, while Loyola Marymount (3-10) finished with one run on four hits with four errors.
The Bruins will play in the annual Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic over the weekend with Vanderbilt, TCU and USC. UCLA will begin the weekend hosting Vanderbilt at 6 p.m. PT on Friday at Jackie Robinson Stadium then TCU on Saturday at JRS at 7 p.m. PT. The Bruins will conclude the weekend playing crosstown rival USC at Dodger Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT. Saturday and Sunday's game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
