AUGUSTA, Ga. - Freshman Devon Bling was the top UCLA finisher at the 3M Augusta Invitational, tying for 21st at 1-under, as the 19th-ranked Bruins placed 11th at the Forest Hills Golf Club. UCLA shot a 4-over 292 for the second straight round and finished at 7-over 871 for 54 holes.
Bling shot the low round of the day for the Bruins on Sunday, posting a 3-under 69 to finish at 215 for 54 holes. In his final round, he made seven birdies, including three in a row to close out his front nine. Bling also gained strokes on #5, #14, #17 and #18, adding two bogeys and a double.
Junior Jack Ireland tied for 32nd at 2-over 218, posting a 2-over 74 on Sunday. He ended on a high note with a birdie on the 18th to go with three bogeys. Freshman Eddy Lai tied for 43rd (+5, 221), recording three birdies (#1, #11 and #13), five bogeys and two doubles in a final-round, 6-over 78. Junior Cole Madey and sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara tied for 47th (+6, 222). Madey shot a 2-over 74 on Sunday, making five birdies (#1, #6, #12, #15 and #18), five bogeys and a double, while Yoshihara had a 3-over 75, notching five birdies (#2, #4, #6, #15 and #18), four bogeys and a quad.
The Bruins close out the regular season April 13-15 at the El Macero Classic at the El Macero Country Club.
