#24 Bruins Finish Second at El Macero Classic

EL MACERO, Calif. - Battling winds for the third day in a row, the 24th-ranked Bruins shot the third-best round of any team on Sunday at the El Macero Country Club, finishing in second place at the El Macero Classic. UCLA posted an 8-over 296 to record a 54-hole total of +25 (889).
The Bruins had four players place inside the Top 12, led by freshman Devon Bling, who tied for fifth (+5, 221). Bling tied for the fifth-lowest score of the day with an even-par 72. He made two birdies on #5 and #8 and two bogeys.
Junior Patrick Murphy and sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara were each one shot back of Bling at +6 (222). Murphy, playing as an individual, had four birdies (#11, #15, #16 and #18) and six bogeys for a 2-over 74, which was the same score as Yoshihara, who posted his four birdies on #2, #9, #15 and #18 to go with six bogeys.
Senior Tyler Collier tied for 12th at 7-over 223. He shot an even-par 72 on Sunday, making four birdies on #1, #14, #17 and #18 and four bogeys. Junior Cole Madey tied for 19th (+10, 226), recording a birdie on #14, four bogeys and two doubles in a final-round 79 (+7). Junior Jack Ireland, playing as an individual, tied for 31st (+12, 228). He shot a 7-over 79 on Sunday, making two birdies (#5 and #18), seven bogeys and a double. Freshman Eddy Lai tied for 39th (+14, 230), shooting a 6-over 78 on six bogeys.
Next up for the Bruins are the Pac-12 Championships, which will be held at Rolling Hills Country Club in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. (April 23-25).
