FULLERTON, Calif. - Senior Kylee Perez and redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia each posted three hits at the plate, while Garcia struck out eight in 3 2/3 innings of relief, as the top-ranked Bruins held on for a 5-3 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday at Anderson Family Field.

The Bruins improved to 45-3, while the Titans fell to 29-21.

Garcia moved to 17-1 on the season, allowing just one unearned run and two hits. She had 1-2-3 innings in the fifth and sixth, and struck out three in the seventh and two apiece in the fourth and sixth. UCLA had 12 hits from eight different players, but also left 15 on base.

The Bruins scored a run in their first at-bat, as Perez led off with a single up the middle, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Garcia double to right-center.

The Titans tied the score in the third on a Sammie Vandiver infield single, but UCLA rallied for two runs in the fourth. With two outs and the bases loaded, sophomore Bubba Nickles reached on an error at third, as freshman Briana Perez and redshirt freshman Aaliyah Jordan scored to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead. A Julia Valenzuela sacrifice fly in their half of the fourth cut Fullerton's deficit to 3-2.

The Bruins added single runs in the sixth and seventh. A Jordan walk, a Garcia single, a Nickles walk and a free pass to senior Madeline Jelenicki in the sixth made it 4-2. In the seventh, Kylee Perez reached second on an error, moved to third on a bunt single by Briana and scored on a Jordan sacrifice fly to bring the lead to 5-2. Another Vandiver RBI single in the seventh made it 5-3, and the Titans would send the winning run to the plate in their last at-bat, but Garcia got the final strikeout to run the Bruins' winning streak to 11.

The Bruins finish out their regular-season road schedule this weekend at #24 California. The three-game series starts on Friday at 3 p.m. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks.
