No. 11 UCLA Drops Game Two at Washington, 13-6

SEATTLE โ€“ Michael Toglia hit a three-run home run and Chase Strumpf drove in two runs as the No. 11 UCLA baseball team fell at Washington, 13-6, on Saturday from Husky Ballpark. The three-game series is now tied after the Bruins won the series opener Friday night, 7-3.

Washington jumped to an early lead with four runs in the first inning. Braiden Ward and Joe Wainhouse drove in a run with extra-base hits followed by Willie MacIver and Jonathan Schiffer recording RBI-singles.

UCLA cut into the deficit as Jeremy Ydens and Kevin Kendall led off the inning with back-to-back base hits and came around to score on a single up the middle off the bat of Strumpf to make the score 4-2.

The Huskies made it a five-run game in the fifth inning on a three-run home run by Wainhouse and then scored three more in the sixth inning on home runs by Nick Kahle and Levi Jordan.

The Bruins scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning as Ydens ripped an RBI-single and Toglia hit a three-run home run over the wall in right field.

Joe DeMers (5-3) earned the win tossing 8.0 innings allowing two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts, while Zach Pettway (7-3) suffered the loss allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings of work with one strikeout.

UCLA (31-15, 15-8) scored six runs on 10 hits with no errors, while Washington (24-21, 14-9) finished the game with 13 runs on 18 hits with no errors.

The series finale between UCLA and Washington will take place on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. PT from Husky Ballpark.
