STILLWATER, Okla. - Junior Cole Madey and sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara each shot even-par 72s on Saturday at the NCAA Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club. The Bruins as a team are tied for 23rd (+16, 592), shooting a 9-over 297 in round two. The top 15 teams after Sunday's third round will advance to Monday's final round of stroke play. UCLA is currently seven strokes back of the cutline, currently at +9.
Madey is tied for 18th (-2, 142) after another steady round. He made a pair of birdies on the second and 17th, two bogeys and 14 pars. Yoshihara is tied for 75th (+5, 149), making three birdies on No. 7, 9 and 11 and three bogeys. Freshman Eddy Lai (T-86) is at 6-over 150, recording his lone birdie on the 18th to go with five bogeys for a second-round, 4-over 76. Freshman Devon Bling (T-97) is at 7-over 151 following a 5-over 77. He made three birdies on No. 1, 9 and 14, two bogeys, a double and a quad. Senior Tyler Collier (T-140) is at 13-over 157, recording two birdies on No. 8 and 18, seven bogeys and a double in a 7-over 79.
The Bruins look to make a run at the Top 15 on Sunday when their final round begins at 12:55 p.m. CT/10:55 a.m. PT off the first tee in the order of Collier, Bling, Lai, Yoshihara and Madey. Live scoring will be available here.
