Student-Athletes Celebrate Graduation from UCLA

LOS ANGELES - A total of 143 UCLA graduating student-athletes and team members were honored at the Seventh Annual Student-Athlete Graduation Celebration in Pauley Pavilion on Thursday, June 14. Among the participants were student-athletes who graduated in the Winter 2018 and Spring 2018 quarters, as well as those who are projected to graduate in Summer 2018 and Fall 2018.
Women's tennis player Terri Fleming and baseball player Daniel Rosica were selected as class speakers (Watch Fleming's speech | Watch Rosica's speech).
Pac-12 Postgraduate Scholarships in the amount of $9,000 were presented to women's basketball's Dominique Williams and former men's volleyball player John Zappia. Gymnast Christine Peng-Peng Lee and tennis player Martin Redlicki were announced as the Pac-12's Tom Hansen Conference Medal, which goes annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership. Additionally, Rosica and rower Jasmine English were presented as the UCLA Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
The first graduating class of the Wooden Academy Champions program was also honored. The Wooden Academy Champions program is a two-year comprehensive program that focuses on leadership, personal and professional development. The first graduates of the program are Taylor Schlener (women's volleyball), Roni Yamane (women's track & field/cross country), Pattriana Perry (women's track & field), Leon Powell (men's track & field), Mikayla Hart (rowing), KC Yeagley (rowing), Marie-Pierre Delisle (swimming & diving), JaNay Honest (gymnastics), Alexis Jasper-Baylin (beach volleyball).
