Garcia, Nickles, Pack Named to All-WCWS Team

OKLAHOMA CITY - Junior Taylor Pack, redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia and sophomore Bubba Nickles were each named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team, as announced on Tuesday.

Nickles led the Bruins in the WCWS with a .545 batting average, producing six hits in 11 at-bats to go with two home runs, three runs batted in and five runs scored. She slugged 1.182 and had a .615 on base percentage, while making a couple of spectacular catches in center field. The sophomore hit home runs against Florida last Friday and in game two versus Florida State, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored in the Bruins' final game.ย For the NCAA Tournament, Nickles had hits in all 11 games, batting .533 (16-for-30) with a team-best four homers, 11 RBI and nine runs.

Pack was 5-for-10 (.500) in her four games in Oklahoma City, leading the team with seven RBI, tying for first with two home runs and placing second with four runs scored. She had a 1.100 slugging and a .545 on base percentage, committing no errors in 18 chances. Pack hit a go-ahead, three-run homer versus Florida and went 3-for-3 with a career-high four RBI on a two-run homer and two-run single in game two against FSU last Sunday.ย In 10 games and just six starts in the NCAA Tournament, Pack hit .364 (8-for-22) with two homers, nine RBI and five runs scored.

Garcia pitched in 23 of the Bruins' 27 innings in the WCWS, recording 42 strikeouts, a pair of wins and three complete games. She struck out 15 in both Bruin victories against Florida State last Thursday and Florida last Friday, adding 12 strikeouts in nine innings on Saturday versus FSU. At the plate, she had an RBI single in game one of last Sunday's doubleheader against FSU. Garcia threw 65 1/3 of UCLA's 75 1/3 innings in the NCAA Tournament, striking out 97 and posting a 1.82 earned run average and an 8-2 record. At the plate, she hit .273 (9-for-33) with 10 RBI, which was second on the team, and two homers, which was tied for second.
