No. 7 UCLA Blanks Michigan State 10-0 Behind Four Homers
March 13, 2026 | Softball
LOS ANGELES โ The No. 7 UCLA softball team hit four home runs in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Michigan State to open the series Friday night at Easton Stadium.
ย
The Bruins (23-3, 4-0 Big Ten) continued several streaks in their seventh shutout of the season, extending their winning streak to 18 games while homering for the 18th consecutive contest. UCLA also has hit multiple home runs in each of its last 10 games.
ย
Senior Taylor Tinsley dominated in the circle, tossing her second complete-game shutout in as many weeks. The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native struck out three and allowed five baserunners on three hits and two walks to the Spartans (13-11, 0-1 Big Ten).
ย
Tinsley improved to 13-2 with a 2.86 ERA and ranks second nationally in wins.
ย
Kaniya Bragg, Megan Grant, Ramsey Suarez and Jordan Woolery each homered for UCLA. Grant's blast โ a line drive over the right-field wall โ was her NCAA-leading 20th of the season. With the home run, Grant became the fastest Bruin in program history to reach 20 homers in a season, doing so in just 26 games. Grant tied Stacey Nuveman for that same record last season with 20 home runs through the first 43 games of 2025.
ย
UCLA applied pressure on offense immediately in the first inning. Rylee Slimp, Grant and Woolery loaded the bases with no outs on a hit-by-pitch, single and walk. Freshman Bri Alejandre drove in the game's first run on a comebacker that deflected off Michigan State pitcher Jacey Shuley's glove.
ย
Another freshman, Aleena Garcia, followed with a full-count walk to plate another run.
ย
Redshirt junior Alexis Ramirez added a two-run single to left field later in the inning to extend UCLA's lead to 4-0. Garcia also displayed heads-up baserunning on that play, getting caught in a rundown between second and third long enough to allow another the second runner to score before being tagged for the final out.
ย
Grant's two-run homer in the second inning pushed the lead to 6-0. UCLA struck again in the third when Suarez, starting at designated player for the fifth straight game, launched her sixth home run of the season off the left-field videoboard.
ย
Woolery and Bragg capped the scoring with back-to-back home runs to straightaway center field in the bottom of the fourth. Woolery's two-run shot pushed the game into run-rule territory and increased her NCAA-leading RBI total to 54. Bragg's homer marked UCLA's fifth back-to-back home run sequence of the season and second in as many games.
