
Indies Conclude Tourney, Fivesome Headed to Georgia

SIMI VALLEY, Calif./ALPHARETTA, Ga. - A quartet of Bruins completed three rounds at the Bill Cullum Invitational to open the week, while a handful of golfers will finish the week at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational for the second team tournament of the fall season.
Freshman Mason Greene was the top finisher for UCLA at the Bill Cullum Invitational at the Wood Ranch Golf Club, tying for 12th (-5, 211). In Monday's 36-hole day, Greene had a 2-under 70 in the morning and an even-par 72 in the afternoon, making 12 birdies, 17 pars, four bogeys and three doubles during his two rounds. He closed on Tuesday with a 3-under 69, making five birdies and only two bogeys.
Freshman Chaz Aurilia tied for 55th (+6, 222), saving his best round for last on Tuesday with a 3-under 69, making an eagle, two birdies and a bogey. On Monday, Aurilia shot a 5-over 77 (two birdies) in the morning and a 4-over 76 (three birdies) in the afternoon. Freshman Tony Hendricks tied for 86th (+14, 230). He shot a 4-over 76 (two birdies) in round one, a 7-over 79 (one birdie) in round two and a 3-over 75 (two birdies) in his final round. Senior Harrison Mahon tied for 98th (+23, 239), going 86-76-77 with two birdies in round two and one birdie in round three.
As a team, the Bruins trek to the Golf Club of Georgia - Lakeside Course for the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational. The 54-hole, three-day tournament runs from Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 7,017-yard layout. UCLA's starting five will consist of senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara, juniors Devon Bling and Eddy Lai and sophomores Sean Maruyama and Bryan Wiyang Teoh. Greene will be playing as an individual.
That same fivesome finished third (-5, 859) at the season-opening Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills (Oct. 6-8). Lai tied for fifth (-4, 212), which included a final-round, 4-under 68 and a second-round, 1-under 71. Yoshihara was also under par in the final two rounds in Wisconsin (1-under 71, 2-under 70), finishing in a tie for 10th (-2, 214). Teoh was one shot behind (T-12, -1, 215), ending the tournament with a 3-under 69. Bling tied for 19th (+2, 218) and Maruyama tied for 50th (+11, 227).
UCLA is appearing in its 13th-straight Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational (did not appear in inaugural tournament in 2006). The Bruins won the event in 2011 and have finished second in 2007, 2010 and 2012. Bruin Erik Flores was the medalist in 2009.
