LOS ANGELES – Junior Michaela Onyenwere produced a game-high 27 points to go with six rebounds and three steals, while senior Japreece Dean made her season debut, posting a career-high 11 assists, adding eight rebounds and seven points, as the 11th-ranked Bruins recorded an 86-51 victory over Long Beach State on Thursday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

Sophomore Kiara Jefferson (13) and junior Chantel Horvat (11) were also in double figures in points, with redshirt junior Natalie Chou adding nine and junior Lauryn Miller notching eight. UCLA shot 46.5 percent (33-for-71) from the field, including an 11-for-16 (68.8%) performance from Onyenwere. The Bruins were also 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the free-throw line and added seven three-pointers.

The Bruins (3-0) scored the game's first 20 points, with 11 of them coming from Onyenwere, as Long Beach State (1-2) was held scoreless for the first 7:36 of the contest. Onyenwere ended up with 14 in the first 10 minutes of play, as UCLA, which made nine of its 18 attempts from the field, led 26-7 after the first quarter.

The Bruins also scored the first five points of the second quarter, as the lead reached 30 for the first time with four minutes left on a three by Horvat, who had seven points in the stanza. Onyenwere nearly outscored The Beach by herself with 22 points in the first 20 minutes, as UCLA doubled up Long Beach State, 52-26, heading into the intermission break.

The closest Long Beach State would get the rest of the way was 21. The Bruins scored the last five points of the third quarter on a three-pointer from freshman Charisma Osborne and a layup from Onyenwere, both assisted by Dean, to take a 71-42 lead into the final quarter.

The Bruins' lead got back above 30 on an Onyenwere layup to start the fourth quarter and stayed above 29 for the rest of the game, reaching as high as 36 with four minutes left on a layup by redshirt sophomore Lindsey Corsaro.

The Bruins return to action on Friday, Nov. 22, hosting Northern Colorado at Pauley at 7 p.m.
