LOS ANGELES – A trio of players from the UCLA men's soccer team were named to the inaugural Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.
UCLA's recipients included redshirt sophomore defender Eirik Baekkelund, redshirt sophomore goalie Cameron Douglas, and redshirt senior forward Blayne Martinez.
The Pac-12 Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs) recently recommended and the Pac-12 Council voted to approve a change to the all-academic selection process. Any student-athlete on his or her respective team roster with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution, is eligible to receive all-academic honors.
Martinez received all-academic recognition from the conference for the fourth consecutive season. He was a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team selection in each season from 2016-18. It was the first career Pac-12 academic honor for both Baekkelund and Douglas.
