Garcia Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of Week

Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia of the UCLA softball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11-17.
Garcia struck out 27 in two complete-game victories, while walking zero, as the top-ranked Bruins went 4-0 on the weekend to remain undefeated on the season. Of her 14 innings, Garcia struck out the side in five of them and had two strikeouts in five more. She struck out 13 in a six-hit shutout over Ole Miss on Saturday, adding 14 strikeouts in a four-hitter versus Loyola Marymount on Sunday. In three of her four starts this season, Garcia has posted strikeout totals of 13, 14 and 15. Garcia also went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate with a home run, four runs batted in, three runs scored and two doubles.
This is Garcia's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and second of her career.
